Adopting a Registered Cat?
Cat registrations are interchangeable across the state. To transfer your registration please complete our registration form.
You will need to provide proof of registration by advising the name of the local government at which the cat is currently registered as well as its existing registration tag number.
If your cat is already registered with the Shire of Murray, please complete our change of details form.
You can either email, post or bring the completed form into our Administration Office for processing.
No additional fees apply.
Remember, you will also need to update the details associated with your pet’s microchip. Contact the relevant microchip company. A microchip is only as useful as its contact details!

Microchipping vs. Registration
Microchips issued by vets are separate to the registration tags issued by us. This means that cats have to be microchipped (your vet will be able to assist with this process) and registered with us following the process specified above.
