Under the Freedom of Information Act 1992, many government documents are available to the public. Be aware that a cost may be incurred when making Freedom of Information applications.
If you would like access to Shire records, please search our website or contact us to make sure the document is not already available online.
Fees
The minimum fee is $30. This includes two hours of research and 20 x A4 copies. Any additional research by Shire staff attracts a fee of $30 per hour and additional copies of documents are 20c per page.
Requests for access to personal information are free. Financially disadvantaged applicants and applicants with a pensioner concession card, are eligible for a 25 per cent discount.
Timeframes
We aim to make information available within 45 days and at the lowest possible cost, and whenever possible to provide documents outside of the Freedom of Information process.
Consultation
If an application concerns the personal or business affairs of a third party, we are required to take reasonable steps to consult with the third party. When making a decision we must consider any views offered by the third party.
