Unrestricted burning period 2025

The Shire would like to inform the community that the unrestricted burning period will commence Friday, 30 May 2025 until 1 October 2025.

Although burning is permitted, it is strongly recommended that you register your burn with DFES by calling 9395 9209. This helps prevent unnecessary callouts and allows our volunteer firefighters to have a well-deserved break from attending fires that do not require emergency response.

Before conducting any burn, please ensure that:

  • The burn pile is in a safe and clear location, well away from buildings, fences, and neighbouring properties.
  • The area surrounding the burn is free from flammable materials and has appropriate containment measures in place to prevent the fire from escaping.
  • Weather conditions are suitable, and someone remains in attendance at all times until the fire is completely extinguished.
