Cooper’s Mill Foreshore Management Plan
Published on Wednesday, 11 March 2026 at 10:09:53 AM
The Shire of Murray is seeking community comment on the draft Cooper’s Mill Reserve Foreshore Management Plan and associated Conservation Management Strategy.
Cooper’s Mill is a State heritage-listed place located on Cooleenup Island, South Yunderup. The Mill and surrounding reserve are increasingly affected by foreshore erosion and tidal inundation, which are expected to increase over time due to climate change. The purpose of these documents is to provide a coordinated, long-term framework to protect the heritage significance of Cooper’s Mill while managing foreshore stability, public access and future climate risks.
The Foreshore Management Plan addresses erosion processes, inundation risk and foreshore protection options, while the Conservation Management Strategy establishes conservation priorities for the ongoing care and management of the heritage place. Together, the documents are intended to guide staged implementation and inform future funding opportunities and approvals.
The Shire is offering a number of opportunities to review the documents and provide feedback. Plans and documents explaining the proposal are available here or alternatively:
- at the Shire of Murray Administration Office, 1915 Pinjarra Road, Pinjarra
- at the Murray Library, cnr Pinjarra Road and Forrest Street, Pinjarra.
Written submissions should include the name and address of the person making the submission.
Submissions should be addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, Shire of Murray, and can be made below.
Or alternatively submissions can be returned via email or post:
Submissions close on 29 April 2026.
A community drop-in session, where Shire officers will be available to explain the proposal and answer questions, will be held on 15 April 2026 between 5pm and 7pm at the Ravenswood Community Centre, Jones Lane, Ravenswood.
Further information relating to the drop-in session will be made available in the coming weeks on the Shire’s website and social media pages.
