The Shire of Murray is calling for nominations for the 2026 Community Citizen of the Year Awards. This is an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the incredible individuals and groups who make our community stronger, kinder and more connected.

Shire President Douglas McLarty said the calibre of nominees is always exceptional.

“These awards recognise the many citizens and groups who go above and beyond in serving our district. We are fortunate to have so many phenomenal people in the Shire of Murray who are engaged, committed and truly deserve to be celebrated,” said President McLarty.

The awards are presented in four categories: Community Citizen of the Year, Young Community Citizen of the Year, Senior Community Citizen of the Year and Active Citizenship (group or event).

Nominations are welcome for contributions across all areas of community life including but not limited to education, health, voluntary service, business, sport, arts, the environment, fundraising and social inclusion.

Nominations close on 31 October 2025 and can be submitted at www.citizenshipawards.com.au/nominate.

Recipients will be announced and celebrated at the 2026 Australia Day celebrations.
