Library Closes for Refurbishment

The Murray Library will close on 3 November 2025 to allow refurbishment works that will create a brighter, more accessible and flexible community space.

From 11 November, a temporary library will operate in the Pinjarra Heritage Train Station.

At the temporary library, patrons will be able to participate in popular programs such as Story Time, Rhyme Time, Book Club, Write Stuff, and Book Clubs among others. In addition, the usual JP services will be available.

It will not be possible to offer books for loan from the temporary library. To help members prepare, borrowing limits will be increased prior to the closure so members can stock up on extra reading material. Members can continue to access all digital services, including Libby, BorrowBox, Hoopla and Kanopy. To help the community make the most of these services, the library team will host information sessions in advance.

Shire of Murray CEO Dean Unsworth said the project will ensure Murray Library continues to meet the needs of a growing community.

“The Murray Library is an important hub for learning, connection and creativity in our Shire. This refurbishment will make the space brighter, more welcoming and more adaptable for people of all ages,” said Mr Unsworth.

“While long-term planning for a new library continues, these refurbishments will immediately improve accessibility and comfort for our community. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to enjoy the refreshed space,” added Mr Unsworth.

These refurbishments will ensure Murray Library remains a valued and inclusive community hub, delivering enhanced access, comfort and adaptability.

This project is sponsored by Community Bank Pinjarra (Bendigo Bank).
