The Murray community contributed to the Anti-Poverty Week Community Food Drive in October donating an incredible amount of non-perishable food items and personal hygiene products such as pasta, canned food, honey, crackers, and soap and toothpaste.
The Shire of Murray delivered donations to the Pinjarra Community Kitchen on Tuesday 4 November.
Shire of Murray President, Douglas McLarty, said the donations will help feed people experiencing homelessness or severe financial hardship.
“The Murray community has once again rallied behind the Food Drive to help those doing it tough,” said President McLarty.
“This year saw wonderful community participation, with generous contributions supporting the ongoing work of the Pinjarra Community Kitchen. “Thank you to everyone who generously donated,” added President McLarty.
The food drive is an annual initiative run by the Shire of Murray.
Collection points were established at the Murray House Resource Centre, Pinjarra Community Men’s Shed, Dwellingup IGA, Austin Lakes IGA, Murray Library, Murray Aquatic and Leisure Centre, Coolup General Store, Alcoa, Shire of Murray Administration Office, North Dandalup Primary School, St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, and Pinjarra Senior High School.
