Maker in Residence - The Power of Koru
Past Event
These handmade jewellery carvings, referred to as Taonga (a sacred possession), are made from high quality double refractive kiln fired glass and are one of a kind!
With stunning colours and unique visual effects, it makes them impossible to duplicate. The collections are inspired by New Zealand mythology, generations of ancestral stories and known history.
Traditionally Taonga are given as a koha (gift). Legend suggests the giving of a koha represents respect and honor that brings protection to the recipient. These Taonga embodied with protection and mana become family keepsakes, something you hold dear and full of memories.
However, there is also no back luck associated with purchasing one for yourself especially if you feel a connection to a particular piece!
Come check out The Power of Koru, located at the Court House, and open from 10am to 4pm Tuesday to Sunday.
