Overview

The South Yunderup Bridge is a critical transport link providing the only road access for residents within South Yunderup. Constructed in 1975, the bridge is approaching the end of its useful life and no longer meets the needs of the growing community.

A combination of localised conditions, bridge deterioration, increased traffic needs, community expectation and safety standards necessitate the bridge’s replacement. While interim structural works have prolonged the bridge’s operational life, these measures only delay the inevitable need for full replacement.

Project benefits

  • Improved connectivity and road safety
  • Extension of cycle network
