The Shire of Murray has completed the final installation of its licence plate recognition CCTV rollout, with new cameras now operational in the northern part of town, including the intersection of South Western Highway and Paterson Road.
This milestone marks the completion of stage one of the Shire’s CCTV network expansion project, which has significantly boosted community safety through the installation of advanced automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) technology.
The new cameras are equipped to relay real-time information directly to local police, providing valuable support in crime prevention, investigations and rapid response. This capability strengthens the already close working relationship between the Shire and local police, reinforcing collaborative efforts to keep the community safe.
Shire President Douglas McLarty said the project supports the Shire’s focus area ‘People’ highlighting the Shire’s commitment to ensuring our community enjoys excellent health, wellbeing and quality of life.
“This technology gives our local officers timely and reliable information, helping them respond more effectively and keep our community protected,” said President McLarty.
“We’re proud to deliver this important upgrade and appreciate the strong partnership we have with WA Police in improving safety outcomes for our residents.”
Alcoa Pinjarra Alumina Refinery Manager Jodie Giraudo said this collaboration between Alcoa and the Shire of Murray is a pro-active approach to ensuring the Murray community remains safe.
“We’re proud to partner with the Shire in delivering this important CCTV network expansion to increase community safety, which aligns closely with one of our company’s core values: Care for People,” said Ms Giraudo.
Thank you to Alcoa for supporting this important project.
