Hazardous Waste
Up to 20 litres or 20 kilograms of household hazardous waste can be disposed of per day, free of charge, at the following facility:
Hazardous chemicals and materials must not go in your general waste or recycling bin. If these items are not properly disposed of, they can cause harm to your family, pets and the environment.

What is household hazardous waste?
- Flammable, toxic, explosive or corrosive products used in and around the home - these can be identified by labels on the product packaging
- These products can pose a threat to human health, animals and the environment
What items can I dispose of?
- Acids and alkalis
- Aerosols
- Batteries (household)
- Engine coolants and glycols
- Fire extinguishers - non halon (red) only
- Flammables
- Flares
- Fluorescent lamps and tubes (CLFs)
- Gas cylinders (small household)
- Household chemicals (e.g. cleaners)
- Paint
- Pesticides/herbicides
- Poisons/toxics
- Pool chemicals
- Smoke detectors
- Chemicals in a secure, sealed, chemical-resistant container
How to reduce hazardous waste?

- Only buy quantities to meet your needs
- Adopt 'green' cleaning and gardening
What is the Household Hazardous Waste Program?
The program is funded by the Waste Authority to assist with the collection and appropriate disposal of hazardous waste across the state.
