The Shire of Murray received a hat-trick of honours at the WALGA 2025 Local Government Awards last night, with three Shire past and present representatives being announced winners.
The Shire’s Director Community and Economic Development, Ms Krystal Dawe, was awarded a Local Government Merit Award alongside Councillor Ange Rogers for their notable contributions to the sector.
Mr David Bolt was awarded the prestigious Eminent Service Award for his outstanding commitment during his time serving as Shire President. Mr Bolt resigned from the Shire in March 2025 after being elected to State Parliament as member for Murray-Wellington.
Shire of Murray Chief Executive Officer, Dean Unsworth, expressed his pride in the team stating the timing couldn’t have been more appropriate.
“All three award recipients began their journey with the Shire in 2015, making this recognition a meaningful milestone as they celebrate ten years of dedicated service. It is wonderful to see their commitment recognised at such a prestigious event. Their awards are a fitting tribute to a decade of impactful contributions to local government,” said Mr Unsworth.
The WALGA Local Government Awards are a celebration of excellence across the sector and serve as a platform to celebrate the remarkable achievements of local government representatives.
Ms Krystal Dawe is an accomplished civil servant with a decade of experience at the Shire of Murray, where she has rapidly progressed through several key roles. She began her local government career in 2015 and is currently the Director of Community and Economic Development, a directorate she helped establish and now leads.
Councillor Rogers is known for her honesty, approachability, and strong community focus. She brings a deep passion for supporting local communities and helping them thrive. Her work is guided by a commitment to preserving the rural lifestyle of the region while supporting sustainable development and economic growth.
Mr Bolt joined Council in 2015 and was appointed Shire President in 2017. During this time, David demonstrated strategic, forward-thinking leadership, guiding the Shire through significant economic and community development initiatives.
