Who do I contact about graffiti?

All graffiti should be reported to the Shire of Murray or the WA Police Goodbye graffiti website.

What facilities are available to book and how do I book them?

You can refer to our Places and Spaces for all Shire of Murray facilities available for hire.

Is there a Justice of the Peace at the Shire of Murray?

The Murray Library has a free weekly drop in Justice of the Peace signing service.

How do I update my address for my rates notice?

To update your address, simply complete a Change of Address form.

My streetlight is not working, how do I report it?

The Shire of Murray is responsible for lighting in council carparks, boat ramps, parks, reserves and some streetlights within the Murray River Country Estate. You can report faults here.

All other streetlights are the responsibility of Western Power, and faults should be reported directly to them.

What are my sprinkler days?

The Shire of Murray is not responsible for sprinklers on private property.

You can locate your designated sprinkler days on the Water Corporation website.

I have a water leak on my private property, who do I contact?

Water leaks on private property are the responsibility of the property owner. Faults and leaks can be reported directly to the Water Corporation.

Who is responsible for the maintenance and repair of a crossover?

The property owner is responsible for the maintenance and repair of their crossover. For more information, visit here.

Can I remove the existing footpath to make way for a crossover?

My property’s kerbing is too high, can it be changed to a lower profile?

No, the kerbing can only be changed if it meets the requirements in the crossover specifications.

What do I do if my neighbour’s tree is overhanging my property?

General tree issues are civil disputes between neighbours. Find out more.

My dividing fence is damaged, who is responsible for replacing?

How do I obtain a copy of the plans of my house?

Ranger and Community Safety

Does my dog and cat need to be microchipped?

Yes, both dogs and cats are legally required to be microchipped. Find out more.

Is there a limit on the number of cats or dogs that I can keep?

The cat legislation does not specify the number of cats that can be kept on a property.

You can have two dogs over the age of three months, as well as any puppies of these dogs, until they are three months old.

Are livestock allowed to wander near a road or on someone else’s property?

The owner of livestock must ensure that they can be confined to their property and not escape. Livestock that are found wandering by Rangers can be seized and impounded. 

Can I ride my motorcycle or 4WD vehicle on Shire land?

Under the Road Traffic Code, only licensed vehicles and motorcycles can be ridden or driven in a public place.

Rangers can seize and impound any off-road motorcycle or vehicle that is being used on Shire land or private property without the property owner's consent.

Can I use a solid fuel BBQ, Chiminea or fire pit during the Prohibited or Restricted Burning Times?

Only fully incapsulated gas apparatus are permitted to be used during the Prohibited or Restricted Burning Times.  Further information can be found here.

Can I upgrade my bin size?

You can upgrade to a 360L recycling bin for a one-off fee of $45, find out more.

How do I get a tip pass? 

Shire of Murray residents are eligible for free access to our waste transfer stations.

Free access is administered by a residential tip pass, sent out annually with rate notices.
