Community Sport and Recreation Facilities Fund Forum

As you may be aware, the Department of Sport and Recreation’s (DSR) 2010/11 Community Sport and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF) opens in July, and this year there have been a number of changes made to the program. These include: • an increase of the available funds from $9 million per year to $20 million per year; • introduction of a development bonus, allowing up to 50% funding of the total project cost for projects that meet certain criteria (previously one third funding); • introduction of two small grant rounds per year, for grants with a project cost of under $150,000, allowing quicker release of funds; and • quarantining of a portion of the available funds for sustainability initiatives and non-metropolitan pool upgrades. In light of these changes and with the opening of the 2010/11 funding round, DSR Peel is partnering with the Shire of Murray to host a forum designed to address relevant staff, sporting clubs and organisations on the changes to the program, timelines, the process for CSRFF, and to answer any questions you may have.

    Local Government Reform

A public information session has been set for residents and ratepayers to get the latest information and ask any questions regarding Local Government Reform. MEDIA RELEASE 2 JULY 2009 PUBLIC INFORMATION SESSION REGARDING LOCAL GOVERNMENT REFORM A public information session has been set for residents and ratepayers to get the latest information and ask any questions regarding Local Government Reform. In February 2009, the Minister for Local Government, the Hon. John Castrilli requested all Western Australian local governments to undergo a process to consider voluntary amalgamation. Part of this process is to consult with the community to get its views on whether amalgamation or boundary changes would be beneficial to its residents. A detailed 4-page pamphlet has been produced and sent to each resident and ratepayer within the Shire that informs the public about what the Minister has requested, and what amalgamation or boundary changes may mean to residents of Murray. The flyer also includes a stamped, self-addressed envelope requesting that residents return the questionnaire which contains five questions. This questionnaire will assist in the Shire producing a submission that is due back to the Minister by the end of August. The questionnaire can also be completed on our website and submitted electronically by following this link.... The public information session will be held as follows: Date: Tuesday 21 July 2009 Time: 6.30am – 8pm Venue: Civic Hall, Pinjarra Road, Pinjarra. Shire President Cr Noel Nancarrow says that it is critical that people have their say on the matter by filling in the questionnaire. “It’s important that Council receives as many questionnaires back as possible”, Cr Nancarrow said. “We also invite people to attend the public meeting to ask questions and get the latest information, as it relates to the future of the Shire of Murray”. For more information please contact: Cr Noel Nancarrow on 0419 968 993 or Dean Unsworth (CEO) on 0417 090 715.
