Following an introductory hour of code, you’ll get started with the BBC micro:bit and use friendly blocks of code in Python to make a virtual pet that you can feed and play with!

A great opportunity for kids of all abilities to learn basketball or enhance their skills in this one hour session with Damo. Participants will learn defense, offence, dribbling and footwork skills including lay-up and shooting pointers from experienced coach.

Participants will receive a free basketball cap.

Virtual Reality | Tuesday 16 July

Try virtual reality at the Murray Library using the myVoice Youth Reference Group’s Oculus Rift headset.

Walk around on the ocean floor, participate in carnival games, float around a space station or visit other countries – anything’s possible!

Build on skills from session 1. Use the pocket-sized Micro:bit and a range of accessories to code, customise, control and bring your digital ideas, games and apps to life as you design, invent and learn, play or pilot in apprentice or masterclass mode.

A great way for kids to burn off some energy during the school holidays, slipping, sliding and laughing while negotiating their way along the inflatable.

myVoice Youth Reference Group

The myVoice Youth Reference Group is made up of Shire of Murray young men and women aged 11 – 25.

The Group work collaboratively to provide input into the Shire of Murray Youth Strategy 2016 – 2020 and to offer suggestions for ongoing youth activities throughout the district.

The success of the following events/projects is attributed to the work of the Group:

  • Street Chillz Drug Aware Youth Fest – 2016, 2017 and 2018
  • Dwellingup Teenz Youth Space
  • Pinjarra Youth Space
  • Youth Zone at the LiveLighter Pinjarra Festival
  • Virtual Reality Night
  • Centre Stage Youth Theatre Program

Individuals interested in joining the Group are encouraged to do so by downloading a form below.

The Shire of Murray is passionate about assisting communities in developing regular ongoing activities for youth.
