North Dandalup residents will soon have access to a refurbished Community Hall, with upgrades set to reestablish the amenity as a meeting place for locals of all ages and a venue suitable for a variety of uses.
According to Shire President Cr. David Bolt, community representatives identified the upgrade as a priority project in the 2017 – 2022 North Dandalup Community Plan and the Shire of Murray and North Dandalup Community Group Inc. have been working closely to make this project a reality.
The first project milestone was realised at the end of January when an air-conditioning system was installed at the building. Works included the installation of insulation to the hall and kitchen areas and structural steel beams to support the unit, as well as an upgrade of the electrical switchboard.
Over the next three months, the building’s wooden floors will be resanded and sealed, the facility’s oven replaced with a new unit, sound moderation panels installed to reduce echo and window treatments added to further assist with sound moderation and improve the buildings aesthetics.
Exterior works include the installation of a barbeque as well as signage to encourage building use.
The project has been made possible through funding from the Australian Government’s Stronger Communities Program, Resource Capital Funds Foundation, MZI Resources and the Shire of Murray.
