Fencing, Weed and Access Control in Priority Shire of Murray Reserves

Some of the Shire’s most significant reserves have been the focus of revegetation works controlling the spread of invasive weeds and preventing the establishment of new weed populations following $16,500 in funding from the State’s Natural Resource Management Office (State NRM) during the 2010/2011 funding round, with the Shire of Murray committing more than $5,000 towards the project.

Intensive weed control and revegetation was complemented by rejuvenation works undertaken through other projects, reserves reaping the rewards of this project include Blake Road and the Gun Club Reserve in Coolup, Herron Point Reserve (co-funded by Coastwest), Culeenup Island and the Pinjarra Light Industrial Estate Reserve (both co-funded by the Southwest Catchments Council) and Jennie Place in North Dandalup (co-funded by the Department of Environment and Conservation), just to name a few.

The Shire acknowledges the State NRM Office which is administered by the Department of Agriculture and Food for its significant contribution to protect and enhance biodiversity in the Shire of Murray and the Peel Region.
