Report European House Borer

Report European House Borer
November 6, 2018 Katherine Stevens

The Biosecurity Blitz is an annual event hosted by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, running until 16 November, 2018.

Biosecurity Blitz is an opportunity for community members to join in and report as many interesting or damaging pests as possible across Western Australia.

One of the pests targeted during the 2018 Biosecurity Blitz is the European house borer (EHB), a destructive pest of seasoned (dry) coniferous softwood, which can cause structural damage to houses if it infests susceptible roof timbers, door/wall frames, flooring or other pine articles.

EHB has already been found in some parts of the Perth metropolitan area, and community reporting of possible EHB signs during the Biosecurity Blitz (or afterwards) will be useful to confirm current distribution.

The flyer below describes where to look for EHB, what to look for and how to report signs of EHB using the free MyPestGuide reporting app.

For more information on EHB visit the department’s website.
