The Shire of Murray is to set out its 10-year strategy at a public sundowner event and is inviting the community to attend.
The new “Council Plan” will be revealed for the first time, giving members of the community the opportunity to hear about the vision for the Shire, and to discuss with councillors and staff.
The launch follows the most comprehensive period of public consultation in the Council’s history which included:
six community workshops, including its first-ever youth summit workshop with senior staff and student leaders from each of the area’s schools
- almost 1500 responses to a community survey
- 90 internal seminar attendees
- more than 60,000 words of community ideas, suggestions and recommendations
Through the consultation the community voiced their priorities for the area in the coming years, highlighting the key areas and issues for the Council to focus on.
The results are five core performance areas, the details of which will be revealed at the launch event on June 7th, but which reflect and build on the community consultation’s findings.
Shire of Murray President Cr David Bolt said “This event is one of the landmark moments in the lifecycle of a local government.
“Every four years, we consult with the most important people in the Shire, the residents, and what they tell us informs the direction we take in the coming decade.
“The results of the community consultation have helped us build this new “Council Plan” which will be a keystone document for us over the next ten years.”
The sundowner launch event takes place at the Pinjarra Civic Centre on Wednesday 7th June from 5.30-7.30pm. Refreshments will be provided and the event will include entertainment and a presentation on the future of the Shire of Murray.
The event is free, but registrations are essential.
