The Shire of Murray has been nominated in three categories of the National Awards for Local Government. Shire Awards

 The awards celebrate local government achievements in Australia and highlight initiatives that are innovative, make a difference to their local communities, display excellence, and have outcomes that are replicable across the country.

 The Shire has been nominated:

  • Regional Growth for the Food Innovation Precinct Western Australia;
  • Productivity through Infastucture for the Food Innovation Precinct Western Australia; and
  • Career Starter for the New Pathways program which encourages new workers into local government

Chief Executive Officer Dean Unsworth said “There are 537 councils in Australia, and only 139 nomination in these awards, so to be included in three categories is a fantastic result for the Shire of Murray.”

 “I’m particularly proud that we’ve got two nominations for the Food Innovation Precinct Western Australia, which has been a huge project for us. We developed the idea for a centre of agri-food knowledge and enterprise hub to connect agribusinesses across the region and raised $35 million to make it happen. It’s a state-first, so the community can be very proud of it.”

 Voting for the awards is open to all members of the public, and can be undertaken by visiting
