The Shire of Murray is calling for community input into the most significant analysis of the area’s health and social needs it has ever undertaken.
Residents and health service providers in Murray and the surrounding areas are invited to complete an online survey between 16 August and 22 September.
Shire President, Councillor David Bolt, explained the survey seeks to understand community health needs now and into the future.
“By participating in the survey, the community will help identify a long-term solution to health care service provision in Murray,” said Councillor Bolt.
Statistics show, people living in Murray have more long-term health conditions – such as arthritis, heart disease and lung conditions – when compared to Greater Perth. They also tend to have limited access to public transport compared to other areas, such as Perth.
“We are acutely aware of the various health needs of Murray residents and are taking action to identify a suitable solution,” added Councillor Bolt.
“With the insights we gather from the survey, we will develop a business case for government consideration that will address community needs.”
“We also invite residents and service providers from neighbouring local government areas to participate, as we acknowledge our solution may also be of benefit to them. So, if you are in Mandurah, Boddington, Waroona, or Serpentine and Jarrahdale, we also welcome your feedback.”
This project is being led by the Shire of Murray though the Murray Health Futures Steering Committee.
