The Murray community contributed to the Anti-Poverty Week Community Food Drive between 11 September and 13 October.

Donations included non-perishable food items and personal hygiene products such as pasta, canned beans, honey, crackers, and soap and toothpaste.

The Shire of Murray delivered donations to the Pinjarra Community Kitchen at the end of October.

Shire of Murray President, said the donations will help feed people experiencing homelessness or severe financial hardship.

“The Murray has once again rallied behind the Murray Community Food Drive to help those doing it tough,” said Councillor Bolt.

“This year was bigger than ever before with plenty of contributions received. We have been told the donations were so vast that they should keep the Pinjarra Community Kitchen stocked for at least six months.

“Thank you to everyone who generously donated,” added Councillor Bolt.

The food drive is an annual initiative run by the Shire of Murray.

Collection points were established at the Alcoa Bindjareb Office, Alcoa Pinjarra Refinery, Austin Cove Baptist College, Dwellingup Primary School, Murray Aquatic and Leisure Centre, Murray House Resource Centre, Murray Library, North Dandalup Primary School, Pinjarra Primary School,

Pinjarra Senior High School, Shire of Murray Administration Office, and St. Josephs Catholic Primary School.
