Black-cockatoos need your help!

Volunteers are sought to monitor known roost sites and count black-cockatoos as they come in to their evening roosts. The records collected will assist in quantifying changes to black-cockatoo numbers, protecting habitat areas and ensuring the species’ survival.

While the official Cocky Count will take place on Sunday 7 April, a training session is being facilitated prior to inform interested participants about:

  • Registration information
  • Tips to identify species and roost sites
  • Reporting procedures and information
  • Information about the new Alcoa Community Cockatoo Recovery Partnership

Interested in attending?

RSVP by Friday 15 February to environment@murray.wa.gov.au.
