Qualification Requirements:

Murray Leisure Centre

Group Fitness Instructors

Applicants must possess:
• Current Cert III in Group fitness
• Apply First Aid/CPR
• Les Mills qualifications
• Fitness registration
• Working with Children Check

Aqua Fitness, Spin qualifications and Boxing qualifications will be highly regarded

Personal Training

Applicants must possess:
• Current Cert III or IV in Fitness
• Apply First Aid/CPR
• Fitness registration and insurance
• Working with Children Check

Pool Operator/Duty Supervisor

Applicants must possess:
• LIWA Pool Operator Certificate
• RLSSA Pool Lifeguard qualifications
• Apply First Aid/CPR
• Proven public relations and customer service skills
• Well-developed time management and organisational skills
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills including ability to negotiate and resolve conflict in an appropriate manner
• Commitment to providing high quality customer service

Lifeguards

Applicants must possess:
• RLSSA Pool Lifeguard qualifications.
• Apply First Aid/CPR.

LIWA Pool Operator Certificate and AUSTSWIM Teaching qualifications will be highly regarded

Aquatic Education Instructions

Applicants must possess:
• AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming Award or equivalent
• Apply First Aid/CPR
• Working with Children Check

Infant Aquatics, AUSTSWIM towards competitive strokes or equivalent, AUSTSWIM Access and Inclusion certificates will be highly regarded

Crèche Attendants

Applicants must possess:
• Apply First Aid/CPR
• Previous experience working in a similar role
• Proven customer service skills
• Genuine desire and ability to work with children 3 months to 6 years old
• Working with Children Check

A Certificate III in Childcare is highly desirable

Kiosk Customer Service Officers

Applicants must possess:
• Previous experience in food handling / catering
• Experience in cash handling and point of sale operation
• Commitment to providing high quality customer service

Customer Service Officers

Applicants must possess:
• Cash handling
• Proven public relations and customer service skills
• Well-developed time management and organisational skills
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills including ability to negotiate and resolve conflict in an appropriate manner
• Intermediate computer skills

Knowledge of Swim School Bookings system and formal training in customer service is highly desirable

Murray Library

Library Officer

Applicants must possess:
• A current unrestricted C-class national driver’s license
• Provision of current National Police Clearance and Working With Children Check
• WACE Year 12 or equivalent
• Knowledge/experience of office processes

Administration Office

Operations Centre

Parks and Gardens Officer

Applicants will have:
• Demonstrated practical experience in gardens maintenance procedures (eg. landscaping, mowing, reticulation, ground/turf care, weed control etc)
• Experience in the safe use and maintenance of associated plant and machinery (eg. mowers, whipper snippers, chainsaws, etc)
• Ability to work within a team environment and maintain positive relationships with supervisors and peers
• Hold a current unrestricted HR class national driver’s license

Formal qualifications in horticulture or similar, experience in a similar position within Local Government and a Current Apply First Aid Certificate will be highly regarded

Civil Works – Plant Operator

Applicants will have:
• Practical knowledge and experience applicable to civil works construction and maintenance operations
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the safe operation and user maintenance of multiple plant and machinery and associated minor equipment and materials
• Sound interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Construction Induction Card (White/Blue Card)
• Hold a current unrestricted HR class national driver’s licence

Traffic Management accreditation and Doggers and Riggers qualifications will be highly regarded

Rangers

Casual Ranger

Applicants must possess:
• A current unrestricted C-class national driver’s licence
• Provision of current National Police Clearance
• Municipal Law Enforcement Units A and B

 

Work Experience:

Work Experience

The Shire of Murray is able to offer varied Work Experience for eligible students within many of its departments.
All work experience placements are unpaid and students can only be placed when, or if, the opportunity in their area of interest arises.
To apply for work experience at the Shire of Murray you are required to submit the following information:

  • Letter outlining your area of interest and the length and type of placement requested.
  • Any official documentation from your school or educational institution, including insurance paperwork.
