Extractive Industries Local Law 2021

s3.12 (3) Local Government Act 1995

Notice is hereby given that Council at its Ordinary Meeting held on Thursday 24 June, 2021 resolved to make the above mentioned Local Law. 

Purpose

  • To prohibit the carrying on of an extractive industry in the district unless by authority of a licence issued by the local government
  • Regulate the carrying out of the extractive industry in order to minimise damage to the environment, roads and other peoples’ health and property
  • Provide for the restoration and reinstatement of any excavation site
  • Provide penalties for contraventions of the local law

The effect will be that any person wanting to carry on an extractive industry will need to be licensed and  comply with the provisions of the local law.

Submissions close 4:00pm Friday 10 September, 2021.
