Extractive Industries Local Law

Notice is hereby given that Council at its Ordinary Meeting on Thursday 28 October, 2021 adopted the Extractive Industries Local Law(PDF, 307KB).
 
Purpose
  • To prohibit the carrying on of an extractive industry in the district unless by authority of a licence issued by the local government
  • Regulate the carrying out of the extractive industry in order to minimise damage to the environment, roads and other peoples’ health and property
  • Provide for the restoration and reinstatement of any excavation site
  • Provide penalties for contraventions of the local law
The effect will be that any person wanting to carry on an extractive industry will need to be licensed and comply with the provisions of the local law.
 
The local law was published in the Government Gazette on Monday 15 November, 2021 and will commence on Friday 3 December, 2021.
