Dwellingup has been announced as Western Australia’s Top Tiny Tourism Town for 2023 in the 7NEWS Top Tourism Town Awards.
It’s the third consecutive year the town has been recognised as one of Western Australia’s best destinations, having won Gold in 2021 and Silver in 2022.
Winners were announced on Tuesday 16 May at the 2023 Perth Airport Tourism WA Regional Tourism Conference Dinner in Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
Conference delegates were treated to international speakers John Barrett, alongside Senator the Hon Don Farrell (Federal Minister for Tourism), Hon Roger Cook MLA (WA Deputy Premier & Minister for Tourism) and industry-leading speakers, Bede Fennell (Tourism Australia); and Carolyn Turnbull (Tourism Western Australia).
Shire President Cr. David Bolt said he was excited about the win for Dwellingup, and the wider implications for the Shire of Murray:
“We’ve been working with the community for many years to deliver the vision of Dwellingup’s businesses and residents. They asked us to focus on promoting Dwellingup’s natural beauty and assets and its authentic country charm.
“This award recognises yet again that visitors seek out Dwellingup because it is the State’s best trails and adventure destination, and it’s only an hour from Perth.
“I would specifically like to thank the Dwellingup and greater Shire of Murray community and staff, in particular the Dwellingup Trails and Visitor Centre and Tourism teams and all those visitors who voted for Dwellingup.” Cr. Bolt said.
Dwellingup is known for being an adventure playground with flowing rivers, invigorating swimming holes, some of the country’s best walk and bike trails, and cultural and heritage experiences. There are also galleries, creative artisans and farmgate producers, and visitors can also enjoy boutique ciders, tasty local produce and delicious bites at cosy cafes, all flavoured with Dwellingup’s authentic country charm.
Dwellingup will represent the State in the same category in the national 2023 Australian Top Tourism Town Awards.
