Step 1.Do You Need to Submit a Special Event Application?

If any of the following apply to your event, you need to submit a Special Event Application:

Special events criteria

  • Is your event being held on Shire land or in a Shire owned facility? If a private event by invitation only, submit a facility or reserve booking enquiry, not a Special Event Application.
  • Is your event open to the public?
  • Do you expect an attendance of over 100 people? Invitation only parties exempt i.e. birthdays on private land.
  • Will you have food available for purchase?
  • Will you have large amusements at your event? Bouncing castles on private land exempt.
  • Will you have animals at your event? i.e. Petting zoo.
  • Will there be camping at your event?
  • Will there be amplified music at your event?
  • Will there be generators at your event?
  • Will there be alcohol at your event - sale and/or BYO?

If none of the above apply, enjoy your party! Don’t forget to register your event with the Western Australian Police Force:

Step 3.Fees and Charges 

We will process your application and following approval advice will issue an invoice for the payment, which you may pay online.

Step 4.Prepare Supporting Documentation/Information

To enable our Events team to approve your application promptly, you may need:

  • Certificate of Currency for Public Liability
  • Incorporation certificate
  • List of temporary food vendors
  • Details of temporary structures - i.e. tents, marquees, stages
  • Traffic management plan
  • Detailed site plan
  • Risk Management Plan
  • COVID Event Plan

Step 6.Application Processing and Approval

We will contact you should we require any further information and should all conditions be satisfactorily met, we will issue approval.

The approval will reference specific conditions related to your event, which must be adhered to at all times. Failure to adhere to the conditions will result in an invalid approval.
