Rangers are Fire Control Officers, providing administration of the Bush Fires Act 1954 and Regulations and public education and advice on fire prevention and bush fire awareness.

They also:

• Fire Control on Corio Rd, Pinjarra
• Enforce the provisions of the Bush Fires Act 154 & Regulations
• Administer the preparation of the annual Bush Fire Notice
• Review annual restricted and prohibited burning periods
• Undertake property compliance inspections
• Liaise with Fire & Emergency Services Authority of WA (FESA) and
• Department of Conversation and Land management (CALM)
• Administer Council's (5) Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades
• Administer Volunteer Bush Fire  Brigade
• Oversee purchase and maintenance of brigade equipment and infrastructure
• Oversee the purchase and replacement of the Fire Appliance fleet

All areas of the Shire are covered by the Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades.
