Murray residents will be asked to vote in an extraordinary election on Saturday 14 April 2012 following the recent resignation of Councillor John Lambrecht appointed to Council during the October 2011 elections.
The election will be the first of its kind for the Council, with wards abolished prior to the 2011 election, all residents who are registered on the Council Electoral Roll will be eligible to vote.
Acting Chief Executive Officer Peter Black said community members who are keen to make their mark on the future of Murray are encouraged to nominate for candidacy in the upcoming election.
“Murray continues to be in the top ten growth Councils in the country, and with the recent release of our Murray 2021 Strategic Community Plan, there are exciting times ahead. It’s a good time to be making decisions on behalf of your fellow residents,” Mr Black said.
Nominations for candidates will open on Thursday 1 March and close on Thursday 8 March.
The term for the vacancy will expire in October 2015.
Further information will be publicised as soon as available.
