Adult Learners’ Week in Murray to be held 1 to 8 September will see the Shire of Murray join forces with the Pinjarra Community Resource Centre delivering a week long event program ‘Training for the Technologically Terrified’.

The week will cover all things downloadable, social media and new gadgets, laptops and digital images during sessions presented by qualified instructors hosted at the Murray Library and the Pinjarra Community Resource Centre.

Shire President Noel Nancarrow said the Council is committed to providing opportunities to learn for residents throughout the community, and Adult Learners’ Week is the perfect time to do so.

“With help from the State Government’s Adult Learners’ Week funding, Murray Library and Pinjarra Community Resource Centre will provide sessions free of charge for community members to enjoy,” Cr Nancarrow said.

Some of the week’s highlights will include a Facebook session on Friday 2 September, ‘Travels with my Laptop’ on Monday 5 September and ‘Making My Music Mobile’ on Wednesday 7 September all hosted from the Pinjarra Community Resource Centre.  Murray Library will play host on Thursday 8 September with ‘Travelling with technology’ and ‘Sanity and Safety in Cyberspace’.

“Whilst Murray Library will have a great deal of adult learning experiences on offer during Adult Learners’ Week, it is definitely the place for lifelong learning throughout the year,” Cr Nancarrow said.

Murray Library offers many initiatives for adult learning including providing seniors with computer lessons through their Broadband for Seniors’ program, access to the family tree website ancestory.com, in addition to many books and resources exploring adult learning and education.

To secure your place at an Adult Learners’ Week session, please contact Murray Library on 9531 7712 and Pinjarra Community Resource Centre 9531 2298.

Adult Learners’ Week is sponsored by the Department of Training and Workforce Development.
