Young People (Youth)

The Shire of Murray acknowledges that young people play a vital role as strong contributors to our community life. Council is committed to working in partnership with young pepople and community organisations to provide services, facilities and undertake projects and activities that encourage young people’s participation in the community.

YACom - Youth Advisory Council of Murray

The mission of YACom is to provide recommendations to Council regarding the aspirations, views and needs of young people in the Murray region and the development, review and implementation of the Shire of Murray Youth Strategy 2010-2015.

The YACom is made up of elected members, shire staff, youth service providers and community representatives aged 12 to 18 years.

Current projects the YACom are working on include:

• Design and programming of the new skate park

• National Youth Week Event

• Youth Scholarship Program

• Youth Events

• Implementation of the Youth Strategy
