Parking control
To ensure a safe parking environment for Murray’s community, Council’s Ranger Services regularly patrol the district to ensure all residents and visitors comply with the Shire of Murray Parking Local Laws.
The Rangers monitor footpaths, verges, ACROD bays; schools and timed parking in the area. It is important to park correctly and in accordance with the Parking Local Laws at all times.
Some of the local parking restrictions include parking:
- In a loading bay
- In a disabled bay without an ACROD permit clearly displayed on the vehicle dashboard
- Against the flow of traffic
- On a footpath
- Longer than the prescribed time limit displayed on a parking sign
- In a bus bay
- In marked no stopping, no parking or keep clear areas
Selling vehicles on verges
Vehicles are not permitted to be displayed for sale on roads or street verges, as this practice affects the amenity of the area and can obstruct the vision of pedestrians and other road users.
Abandoned Vehicles
An abandoned vehicle is a vehicle left stationary and unattended for a period of time. The vehicle may be parked on roads, verges, reserves or other public land. Abandoned vehicles can be reported to the Ranger Services and a sticker will be placed on the vehicle requiring it to be removed within 24 hours. Should the vehicle remain, it will be impounded and towed at the vehicle owners expense.
If an impounded vehicle is not collected within a set time period it may be sold by public tender or disposed of by other means.
Infringements
Parking Infringements must be paid in full and by the due date. Otherwise, additional costs may apply. If you need more time to pay, please contact the Ranger Service on 9531 7777.
If you wish to dispute an infringement, please write to us before the due date at:
