Noise Control
Unreasonable noise levels in the neighbourhood are often a source of annoyance and may impact on people’s health and wellbeing. If you are experiencing noise from a neighbouring property, the first step is to talk to them as this may resolve the matter. Your neighbours may not be aware that their behaviour is disturbing you.
In Western Australia the Environmental Protection (Noise) Regulations 1997 control noise emissions from the majority of noise sources. Both the Shire and the Police have the authority to enforce the noise regulations, which specify the level of noise permitted at the property receiving the noise.
The types of noise which the Shire may be able to help with are:
- Loud stereos
Party noise
Musical instruments
Lawn mowers, power tools and other devices
Air conditioners
Construction Noise
Noise regulations
Noise Regulations allow the playing of musical instruments in a reasonable manner for up to an hour in any day at the following times:
Between 7am and 7pm Monday to Saturday; or
Between 9am and 7pm Sundays and public holidays.Further Information
