Bin Placement Guidelines
Rubbish and recylcing bins are collected by a specialised collection vehicle with a side lift hydraulic arm. It is therefore important that your bins are placed in the correct location to ensure they are collected on time. Bins are required to be placed on the verge by 6am on the scheduled collection day.
Bins should be placed on the verge one metre from the kerb, and approximately 1/2 metre apart, with the opening side facing the roadside. Bins facing the wrong way or situated too close together may not be emptied.

Your Green Refuse Bin
The green 140 litre refuse wheelie bin is for your general domestic waste only, i.e. food waste and packaging, non recyclables, nappies, plastic bags/garbage bags and garden waste.
For new, damaged or stolen bins please contact the Call Centre on
9550 4744.
Rubbish Bin Guidelines
The following guidelines will ensure you get the best from your refuse collection service:
- Store your bin in a shaded area
- Clean your bin regularly using hot, soapy water
- Wrap all moist and perishable foods in plastic bags or newspaper
- Freeze all smelly food until the night before collection
- Place lawn clippings on top to prevent jamming
- Avoid placing heavy items in the bin such as large rocks and concrete, as bins weighing more than 60kgs will not be emptied. The driver will place a bright coloured sticker on the lid of bins that are too heavy for collection.
- All items placed in the wheelie bin must fit loosely so that they will fall out when emptied into the collection vehicle. Avoid jamming items into your bin.
- The bin should not be overfull. the lid on the bin should fully close. Do not place excess rubbish in the bin which may prevent the bin from closing.
- Ensure the bin is placed in a position visible to the collection truck driver and access to the bin is not obstructed.
Please do not put the following items in your refuse bin:
- Ash
- Concrete
- Bricks
- Solvents
- Chemicals
- Paint
- Oil or other liquids
Your Yellow Lidded Recycle Bin
A fortnightly recycling collection service is available for all residents. The yellow lidded 240 litre wheelie bin is for recyclable waste only. All recyclable items can go into the bin together - they do not need to be sorted.
Many packing items made from paper/cardboard, plastic, aluminium, steel and glass are recyclable. Please place items in your bin LOOSE, not inside plastic bags as bagged items cannot be sorted properly and are treated as general waste and will be redirected to landfill.
Please refer to the 'What Can I Recycle' chart indicating what residents can and cannot recycle.
