All parks and public open spaces located within the Shire of Murray are irrigated by automatic systems with the majority irrigated from bores. A small number of smaller parks are irrigated by scheme water. A number of irrigation systems are linked via landline to the Operations Centre to provide effective and efficient system operation. This system allows the Shire to adjust its irrigation time and to frequently match changes in climatic conditions. The Parks team conducts monthly inspections on all the operational aspects of the irrigation system ensuring effective delivery of water.
The Shire is proactive in identifying opportunities to conserve water and complies with the strict licensing conditions for use of water drawn from bores set by the Department of Water.
